My mother tongue, the one I learnt in my family and my nearest social environment is Spanish. Later, when I joined the school I begin to learn Valencian, the language that I consider as my second language, despite I don’t use it as well as Spanish.
At the school, we participate at the program of progressive incorporation of Valencian, each course we used to have more subjects in Valencian. But as it was an Spanish school the rest of activities were always in Spanish, and children as me that didn’t make use of Valencian at home weren’t able to be familiar with that language.
My relationship with English began when I was very young too, at the nursery we had some lessons at week and then, at primary school I used to attend an extra-curricular activity of English. But it wasn’t till secondary school, when I joined an English academy, that my level began to improve. Since that moment, I used to attend English courses or activities when it’s possible; at the summer of first and second of secondary school I attended an English camp organized by the council of Valencia; when I finish the secondary school, I spent two weeks in a boarding school in Horsham learning English. Next year I travelled with some classmates to make an exchange in Germany with students that just talk German or English, so English was or option. Then, German students came to Valencia too. After I didn’t have the opportunity of doing anything else until last course, when I travelled to Santander to make a language immersion course at the UIMP (Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo). There I meet lot of people from all Spain, and the most important for my English level, English speakers from all over the world. It was a very nutritive experience that I would like to repeat, it was just a week, but very intense. Moved by this, when I finish my degree I would like to move on to work in some English speaker country to can improve and perfectionate my English, because now, despite I carry on studying English it isn’t enough.
